Rush, Crush, and Close
I felt naked without Eagles football–I’ve upgraded to full midnight green leotard after tonight’s game.
It was a bit of sensory overload for me so I won’t even attempt to analyze things like the pain our front four brought to the trenches, or Andy Reid’s 2nd and goal challenge when he knows we need Red Zone reps. I will simply say that I was highly impressed with the product the Eagles put on the field tonight. Much different than preseason teams past, the first look at the 2011 Eagles appeared well-coached and disciplined–a welcomed change that was no doubt a result of the new philosophies on the sideline.
More than the names on the back of the jerseys, I am most excited about the fire and passion that the coaching staff is wearing on its sleeves–that kind of emotion trickles down and is hard for the opposing teams to overcome. Sure, the NFL is full of freakishly strong and gifted athletes, but championship teams are much more than that. Championship teams aren’t bought–they are calculated and unmerciful in their collective quest to rob opponents of their will to play the game. We saw a glimpse of that tonight.
If I could stand in front of this team and give one piece of advice it would be: don’t get caught up in all the ‘Dream Team’ hoopla–rush, crush, close, and don’t look back until you’ve won it all.
That’s all for now. So excited for next week. GO BIRDS!
